Hunt Design and Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding developed this 75 footer to perform firefighting and rescue missions at the US Army's Sunny Point, NC munitions transport terminal. She is equipped with five remotely operated fire monitors, four hose hydrants aft and one triple outlet hydrant forward, and a foam delivery system with outlets on each side. Two 509hp C-9 Caterpillar diesels power fire pumps separately from the 1,600hp C-32 Cat propulsion engines, so that full pumping capability and full mobility are always available. Hamilton HM-651 waterjets allow precise maneuvering in the presence of underwater obstacles that could damage conventional props.
The jet guard structure incorporates a dive/rescue platform, and a separate control station is located on the afterdeck, for use in rescue operations. A remote operated crane is mounted on the house roof, where it is available to assist in rescue operations, or to launch a small boat. The deckhouse is configured as an emergency treatment station, incorporating space for a Stokes litter, and equipped with life-support systems and medical supplies. The focsle contains a basic galley and dinette, four berths, and a head.
