Emocean Marine

The Voodoo 27 is the first boat to be offered by Emocean Marine, a builder based in Abu Dhabi, poised to cater to the emerging pleasure boat markets of the East and to take advantage of Abu Dhabi's favorable wage scale. The goal was to assemble an international team of designers to produce a product appealing to sophisticated Eastern customers, and Hunt was the obvious choice for the new boat's naval architecture. Emocean was referred by a contact who had previously worked with us and knew of our cabilities. Gloss Design of Milan provided a fresh and attractive styling direction. The challenge was to integrate Hunt's design of hull, structure and machinery with the styling and deck design work at Gloss and the concerns of the builders at Emocean, all with only telephone contact (and across several time zones). Adding to the challenge was a deadline, the 2009 Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, which some thought impossible. But Hunt is no stranger to this kind of situation, and the collaborating firms all worked smoothly together. The Voodoo 27 was finished just in time for the show, and in fact, the boat's trials were its trip to the show docks. The builder's representative told us that the Voodoo 27 "stole the show" that they had a large number of orders on the spot, and that the boat performed brilliantly. Needless to say, we are pleased, though not necessarily surprised, as Hunt has been achieving similar results with builders of all sorts across the world, for many years.
