Profile & Arrangement

STRINGRAY V is a classic cruiser designed by Ray Hunt in 1964. She was built in cold-molded wood construction by Wharton in Jamestown, Rhode Island. The low profile and lack of tophamper are striking by contrast to the usual contemporary boat, and allow lighter weight and greatly reduced wind resistance. This translates into less power and lower fuel consumption for a given level of performance, and into easier handling because there is no need to scamper up and down ladders. Measured against this is a smaller enclosed living area. With her wide decks and semi-open bridge, STINGRAY is much more of an "outdoors" boat than most. Six sleep in three cabins in total comfort at rest, with her very unique layout.

This great looking yacht paved the way with her legendary hull spape and ride for the fast modern deep-v cruising yachts of today. STINGRAY inspired a range of custom yachts and production boats over the years. The collection of design descendants of STINGRAY includes an assortment of layouts and profiles offering an array of cruising amenities.

STINGRAY has seen multiple refits and repowers over the years by owners who lavished love and treasure on her. Still in use today, she is homeported in Newport, Rhode Island.
